At the North Greenwood Aquatic Center, hundreds of residents, city officials, and many of the city services, joined in the 34th Annual Leadership Breakfast.
The program, “Preparing a New Generation for a New Struggle,” included a presentation of colors by the Clearwater Police Department Honor Guard.
Clearwater Mayor George Cretekos and the Clearwater City Council members welcomed everyone, proclaiming Monday Martin Luther King Jr Day in Clearwater.
Marie Williams, a senior at Clearwater High School, sang “Climb Every Mountain.”
Several other songs were sung, and dignitaries introduced before Pastor Norma Philberts spoke.
An inspirational program, great food, as always, and a good time to get together with friends, remembering the contributions and life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
After the breakfast, a parade march to Coachman Park is planned.
The annual event is sponsored and planned by the Clearwater/Upper Pinellas Branch of the NAACP.
