From Epoch Times: Business Owner Gifts New Car to Struggling Single Mom of Four After Hers Was Stolen: By Louise Bevan

A struggling single mom of four has received a life-changing gift: a new set of wheels, almost one year after her car was stolen from outside her home in Chicago, Illinois.

Iashiskala Sims, whose liability insurance would not cover a replacement, was left asking others for favors. “I work at Walgreens,” Sims, 40, told WGN-TV. “I take Uber or ask a neighbor for a ride, or I ask [sic] family to take me, and it’s been expensive.”

Desperate to find a solution, Sims entered a competition to win a car. Arriving at Sweet Holy Spirit Church in South Chicago on Jan. 24, thinking she was being interviewed as one of the four finalists, Sims received a huge surprise.

Early Walker, the owner of local business W&W Towing, was waiting to greet her with a gray Saturn Ion car, with a huge bow. Walker, who is also a philanthropist, handed the keys over to the beaming mom, explaining that the car was for her.

Walker’s company had even filled the trunk with gifts for Sims’s children.

“She’s been through it all,” said Walker. “She’s still getting up every day, she’s still got motivation, she’s still being a mom.”

Walker chose Sims after being moved by a letter she sent in support of her competition entry. After her car was stolen from outside her family’s Humboldt Park apartment, Sims suffered a miscarriage and found herself in financial dire straits.

“I was behind on my lights and gas, living from pay check to pay check,” Sims said at the handover ceremony, reports Chicago Sun Times. “It’s been really tight.”

The mom of four even had to forgo buying Christmas presents for her kids.

However, it didn’t just stop at that; there was an extra surprise in store for Sims’s 17-year-old daughter, soon-to-be Illinois State University student Iaysiah Sims-Green. Walker gifted her a new laptop, and, in partnership with Vrdolyak Law Group, pledged to support her financially through her college education.

“They’re happy,” Sims said of her kids. “We’re happy.”

Bishop Larry Trotter of Sweet Holy Spirit Church, who witnessed the handover, claimed to WGN-TV, “I am so happy that God would have touched the heart of Early Walker to bless this family.”
